Hello
MEET KAREN
Before deciding if I'm the right therapist for you, you probable want to know a little about me...
After completing an honours degree in Psychology I knew I wanted to work with people. I completed my diploma in counselling in 2010 and haven’t looked back. I love meeting new people and getting to know the intricacies of what makes us tick. Counselling can be life changing, and I don’t say that lightly. I’ve been specialising in bereavement counselling since 2016 and have worked with many individuals and couples in this time to help them navigate the often lonely journey through loss.
Alongside my counselling, and supervisory work I'm also a mindfulness teacher and deliver training on behalf of a few charities around death, dying, grief and suicide prevention. I really enjoy the blend of roles as it means no two days are ever the same.
I'm an avid reader and love a good crime novel. Living in Scotland, I try when the weather allows it, to get outdoors and enjoy a potter in my garden. My biggest passion is travel and I try and see a new country each year.
If you're thinking you'd like to work with me, I offer all clients a free 15 minute initial consultation by telephone to discuss what you might want to gain from counselling, and for me to answer any questions you might have. This helps you decide if you feel I’m the right therapist for you.
I am an accredited member of NCPS, which means I abide by their codes of ethics, and if you feel unhappy about the service you receive from me, I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you. If you feel I am unable to resolve this in a satisfactory way, you can notify NCPS of your concerns.
